So six months has passed, over-wintering in the beautiful city of Victoria on Vancouver Island. We have worked hard on Amelie, getting her ready for her next season and we’ve made the most of our free time by our trips to the mainland, Singapore, Whistler and the UK.
We got into supporting the Victoria Royals (Ice) Hockey team and saw them eliminated from the playoffs in Canada’s longest professional match, continued supporting Exeter Chiefs from afar (thanks to Jon’s BtSport connection). We’ve competed with the otters for catching crab and seen Great Blue Herons, Racoons, Seals and Bald Eagles but the best of this time was the friendships we made and the people we met. The last week was a flurry of activity during the day, including hair and dental appointments and socialising in the evening. We were fortunate to be invited to the Royal Victoria Yacht club for the last OCC supper. A beautiful evening overlooking a pretty bay and exceptional food. Our final weekend was a blast, sharing it with our special friends, Arlene and Bob together with meeting and enjoying the company of Ian and Adele. Champagne, wine, local beer and cider flowed with delicious food, including a fish and chips supper via a dinghy ride. Peals of laughter rang out from Amelie and she became a party boat again, with dancing to golden oldies, the lemon trick (Adele!!!) and sharing hilarious family stories. Sunday evening came too soon and with a heavy heart we said goodbye to our friends with great hopes of catching up with them in Hawaii next year.
